Sometimes you have to choose

Until you get on your feet you might have to choose the very thing you've always dreaded.......skip a payment. There are times when unexpected bills come or there isn't enough money to go around and you have to make a choice. What exactly can I afford to pay and still have food to eat? For those of us living paycheck to paycheck this is a constant battle.

As gas prices steadily increase and no raises in the near future sometimes you have to go beyond budgeting. On those rare occasions that you have to skip a bill to make your money last a longer I suggest prioritize. If you balance what has to paid (for example: rent, utilities, car insurance) in order for you to live versus what could possibly wait a month (credit cards, other small bills) you can make it through the crunch with very little trouble ( plus or minus a few calls). Just don't make it a habit. If you see that you can't afford to pay everything for an extended period of time don't be afraid to talk your credit card company or whomever you. Explain your situation and see if they can work with you. The worse they can tell you is no.
