If you are like me and have to travel frequently the rise in gas prices can hurt your budget. Here are a few ways to improve your car mileage.
Running an errand? Plan ahead-Plan your route so that you don't have to make any unnessary trips and waste fuel.
Lighten the load! If you don't use it, take it out-Extra weight in your vehicle causes it to run harder and use more gas. Anything that you absoultely don't need (e.g. Items that you have just been storing in your trunk) should be removed.
Stay current with vehicle maintence-Replacing the air filter, making sure the tires are properly inflated and regular tune ups can help improve fuel efficency.
Keep the peddle off the metal-Driving the speed limit is not only the law but it will help save gas.
Can you handle the heat?-Use the air conditioner moderately. Drive with the windows down. (Side note: If it's above 90 degrees, forget gas milage I'm putting the air on high)
Turn it off-Idling for long periods of time is a great way to waste gas. If you are sitting there for a while, turn it off.
Walking is free-Not only is it great exercise, it saves you money.
Know if any other great tips? Leave a comment and tell me about it.
